Dear Music Lovers,
The South African Cultural Observatory (SACO), in collaboration with SAMRO, Concerts SA and the Festival Enterprise Catalyst (FEC), are delighted to invite you to a Women’s Month event at Youngblood Gallery in Cape Town.
The event includes:
- Welcome and refreshments, an opportunity to peruse an exhibition of women in live music in South Africa - The Women Who Went Before - by Judy Seidman, and a screening of a documentary on the impact of 10 years of the Concerts SA programme - “Keeping the Music Alive” by Lloyd Ross
- A panel discussion of leading women in the music sector, discussing the Concerts SA’s report Women in Live Music in South Africa, led by Gwen Ansell, and Protean Careers: Case Studies of South African Women Working in Music by Prof Alethea de Villiers.
- An Industry Networking Session (Sponsored by the Festival Enterprise Catalyst)
- Wrapped In Rhythm - a concert by Tutu Puoane (voice), and Ewout Pierreux (piano) (Limited tickets will be made available).
