DESCRIPTION:From performing on European stages to the Apollo Theatre in New York\, Gregory “Keke” Mabusela of The Muffinz fame has now embarked on a new journey as a solo artist. \nBorn iin Soweto\, South Africa. His mother gave birth to him alone in a four-bedroom house\, which would become the premise of his debut single (Khonza) as a solo artist. \nHis real interest in music began in 2001 when his Arts and Culture teacher assigned the class to create musical instruments. Kekelingo started off by building plastic drums and horns from recycled buckets\, tins and 2-Litre cold drink plastic containers. \nFast forward to 2007\, Kekelingo would busk for tourists in Vilakazi Street\, Orlando and in Newtown outside the Market Theatre. Whilst busking in Newtown in 2008\, Kekelingo had a chance meeting with his icon\, the late Bra Hugh Masekela\, who ended up naming his plastic horn\, the “Keke horn”. \nIn 2009\, South Africa got to hear and see the “Keke horn” on the first Season of SA’s Got Talent where Kekelingo would reach the semi- finals. This nationwide competition catapulted him into the spotlight. \nIt was only in 2010 however that Kekelingo’s musical journey as a vocalist kicked off. Whilst a drummer and backing vocalist for a band called Soul Society\, Kekelingo met a member of a university band that invited him to stand in for their drummer who had just started work after university. Later that week they played at a rock festival called Thorn Fest. \nIn 2012\, The Muffinz would then go on to release their critically acclaimed debut album titled Have You Heard\, which earned them four South African Music Awards (SAMAs) nominations and led to some amazing accolades in Kekelingo’s musical journey. \nFrom 2017 to mid-2019\, Kekelingo embarked on theatre production work as a music curator and performer with The Centre for the Less Good Idea by William Kentridge in Maboneng\, which culminated with Kekelingo performing at the Frascati Theatre in Holland in the production Enyangeni\, which received rave reviews by The New York Times. \nIn 2020\, the stage name Kekelingo was officially born (choosing to adopt the name of the language in which he sings and created) as he embarked on a solo musical journey and signed with the Vth Season

DESCRIPTION:About\n\n\n‘Full Circle’ is the long anticipated body of work from Kenton Lee. It’s a story that began in Durban\, South Africa more than 20 years ago. Kenton was enrolled for light music at Natal Tech music institute where jamming and rehearsing at the Bat Centre was more than just the after school norm. It was the culture that ultimately groomed him to then travel to Johannesburg where he released albums with groups and worked with multi-platinum selling artists such as Lira. After traveling the globe playing on live stages\,  having music rise on popular South African charts with music videos on popular TV channels\, Kenton decided to return to SA to complete the body of work. At the begining of the ‘lift off’ is when the pandemic kicked in and forced him to relocate to Durban. Two years later\, Kent set up his studio\, got married\, had a baby girl all whilst working on the EP. The sound is somewhat eclectic with influences from Jazz to Dance and RnB. It’s an Urban four to the floor sound that’s quite artsy\, however\, please bring your dancing shoes. ‘I chose The Bat Centre’s restuarant called The Small Craft Harbour View to launch this live listening session because this is where it all began. I’m excited to tell my story. I’m excited to be on the stages my hero’s once played.’

This performance will take place live at Admin Park in Diepkloof and will also be packaged for later streaming.\n\nNomisupasta is a South African Music award-winning singer with hit singles\, Maybe I\, Nguwe\, Traveler which she did with Grammy Award-winning DJ Black Coffee\, Losing myself with Harrison Crump\, and was sampled by 9th Wonder for Rapsody’s Idea of a beautiful album.\n\n“Clean communities are safer communities and safety unlocks economic opportunities. Through our work\, we wish to unlock the value of safety and ignite the Soweto night economy. There is freedom in Safety” said Nomsa Mazwai of #FunkItImWalking. Seth Mazibuko from the June 16 Youth Development Foundation\, a partner of #FunkItImWalking shares\, ‘we will be coming with 250 people which will include young people and elderly groups\, ensuring that this program is intergenerational and strengthens the family unit. We need to build safe communities for our children together.’\n\nThe performance is made possible with support from the Concerts SA\, Digital Mobility Fund\, which is managed by IKS Cultural Consulting.
