Zayd Minty is a cultural management professional and researcher.  He has an interest in culture and its implications for diversity, governance, infrastructure and sustainable development in global south cities. He previously developed the first local cultural policy in Africa for the City of Cape Town and the city’s successful bid to become World Design Capital 2014.  Before that he facilitated networks, worked for post-apartheid museums and curated a number of cultural initiatives, including exhibitions, festivals, and relational art projects. Besides his work for IKS, he is the director of Creative City South an expert for UCLG  Agenda 21 for Culture  and a research associate for Wits School of Arts: Cultural Policy and Management Department. He is currently developing a national research and advocacy initiative on urban cultural governance in South Africa.
